This book is fundamentally a collection of a series of articles written for a large-circulation magazine during the war as propaganda. It is full of errors (many of them, I suspect, quite deliberate), heavily-censored, and of little use to anyone except as a reminder of how the American media _used_ to cover wars.The Kindle edition is also very badly formatted and full of transcription/scanning/whatever errors, many of which would've been caught had the publisher made even the slightest attempt at quality-control. As an example, the _title_ of my copy, as listed on my Kindle's home page, reads "The U & # 45 ; boat Hunters". There is no excuse whatsoever for such a gross formatting error, involving of all things the _title_, to reach the customer.

This book was fast paced and interesting throughout. I love reading about subs and this is one of the best second only to "Red Star Rogue" by Sewell and Richmond written more recently.
It is really nice of the people at to offer so many really good books for my free. This is an exceptionally good book since, in my military career, I was a submarine hunter! Mine were Russian!
Read like a history book
Written in 1920s literary style this book gives an insight into not only U-boat hunter operations but convoy and American submarine operations. Not in depth but interestingwriting from a Colliers Magazine author.
This book is at to detailed for me. More of a history book. I would prefer reading a condensed version.
Tells of the life of regular life navy life and military life but dated for modern times of today but ok
A collection of propaganda pieces from Collier's magazine from WW One, but very well written and interesting. Mainly about life on destroyers but closing with a very brief treatment of submarines. Dated but not stilted, written as breezy wartime narrative, but interesting as history in an informal sense.
